When I was just starting with cosmetics, I usually just used the brushes gifted to me. I had a lot of them, and looking back, I’m now wondering why people kept giving them to me as gifts. Hmm, interesting.
Anyway, I used them and I wasn’t really particular about it. But then those gifts ran out eventually, so I started buying my own. They made the application smoother and the effect was more flawless. So then I began to understand that not all brushes are created equal. Some get by, while others work above and beyond.
And then there’s applying cosmetics without brushes. I’m not proud to admit that at one point or another, I did attempt to put on cosmetics without the help of brushes. Believe me, though, when I say it was a disaster. Those were the times when I forgot to clean my brushes or didn’t find the time to do so. I didn’t have it in me to apply cosmetics with unwashed brushes for fear of dirt or bacteria transferring to my face. So I used my trusty hands to apply them instead. But that didn’t get the job done. I didn’t get the desired look I wanted which would have been achieved with the use of my reliable brush set.
